I bought my M&P off of a board member about a few years ago. Just exchanged info (DL) and we went on our way. I was like "wow that's easy!"

What does an FFL charge to do a transfer?

Ask him to show you his original orders. He'll get mail in the barracks too so he should be able to provide mail that's marked with unit and state with his name on it.

I've sold to military I usually just ask to see their ID if I don't know them from work.

Do you know what unit the guy is with?

Very true, I misunderstood your prior post and thought you'd ONLY sell with those two.

Meal card, ID and mail should all validate.

Stop by the office and see if he is there/if others will validate he works out of that office.

That's easy enough he'll have a stack of business cards a mile high with the stations address and his name on them. If its really worrying you swing by the office he'll be in uniform of he's there.
