Default Raspberry Pi 3 Model B

Thinking about using this in a home rig desktop replacement. Quad core ARM 1.2 Ghz with a small profile and an integrated graphics card. Not into gaming but I'll be doing some programming as proofs of concept, so nothing too heavy computationally. Runs 40$ and has an HDMI out so I'll just add a 1920x1200 display.

I have one I loaded the same way. It's smaller, more capable, and can be repurposed if I ever need to.

I was asking about the old pi 3 over at the overclocking forums, for this reason. They recommended against it. However this one could be up to the task. Even the one I was asking them about, would run W10.

But I'd like to ask you guys more about your gaming setup. What interface does it use to browse through the games? And where did you get 10k games?

Also, what controllers can it use? Hopefully xbox 360 wireless.

I've used a wireless ps3 controller with one. A buddy of mine built one and brought it to a party. We played some SNES and NES games on it. For some reason I remember the pairing of multiple controllers was a bit of a pain. Cool ltitle device though considering you can carry it around in your pocket.

Yeah if you could get W7 or W10 installed you could just install all manner of emulators. I believe they even have Gamecube, PS2, N64, and Xbox emulators now. You could have most of the games that have ever been released on it. Might have to spend some money and get one of those 256Gb sd cards though.

Yeah the Pi's are great for 1080p boxes. I'd like to see one released that's 4k capable, but I'm not sure if any of the Arm processors can decode 4k smoothly yet.

I converted one of mine to a mobile plex server. Putting one in the car so my daughter can watch movies without using up our 4G. It wont transcode because the CPU is too slow so I had to make sure all the videos were the right format. I have a Plex Pass account so I can download them to the device directly, but my tablet only has 16GB.
