is it normal for diesel oil to blacken so quickly?

dad took his 15 duramax to the stealership today to have the oil changed, and i checked it a minute ago and it's already black.

Yes. Especially if said diesel engine eats its own shit.....has an EGR

Yeah, emissions diesels do that. If you change it yourself, do it while it’s hot and let it drain until it quits dripping.

Yep...I would get an oil change on my 14 F250 and it would be black by the time I got home.

It's normal. Using additives and changing the oil more often can help a bit.
