  • 1971 Mach 1 value

Coworkers mom has this car for sale. Vin shows it to be 351c with c6 and 3.25 gears. No clue on when it ran last. She was left with it in a divorce. No title.

That's a tough one. The two factors to consider are rust and rarity. This one looks to have plenty of the first, and not enough of the second. The only upside is that it looks more or less complete. I'd put $4-5k on it and see how it does. Depends on how motivated she is to get rid of it.

I'm not big on the body style of I would maybe pick it up myself. Looks like LOTS of work needed. I was told it could be bought for 1k, maybe less.

1K or less is much more realistic. That car needs EVERYTHING. And a lot of people, myself included list 71-73 as their least favorite classic Mustang which leaves the seller in a tough spot.

I was suggesting 4-5k as a starting point hoping they could get lucky. That way when they get low-balled $1,200 they're happy about it, lol.

Probably a good call. It's going to take someone with serious passion and money to bring that one back to life.

most common mustang in the 70's. nothing special except a decal and hood. if you get 1k you are doing good.

I was like, hmmmm, I need a mustang in my life with a new 5.0 in it. Then I looked at the pics, god dammit I hate rust!

Would make a good rat rod style project. 71-73 can look good with the extra long hoods and fast back, they just need the right stance. The factory nose up stance accentuates the extra long hood

That being said, if you get a 1k count yourself lucky. Ask for 1500, settle for 800 if you cant get anything better.

My first instinct is to say no. Then I realize I will probably go to work tomorrow, so have at it. Make the sportsroof run first though.

If it can be had with bill of sale for 1000, I'm interested. This car and I are about the same age. I'd love to know the date code.
