Probably too late now, but don't shut it off. Moving water is much harder to freeze. I put a tarp over my equipment, and left a drop light with an old school light bulb in there to help block wind and hold in a little heat. Crossing fingers.

my pool has been on 24/7 since it hit 35 degrees, and i got my bubbler going to break up any surface ice. Fingers crossed on my filter and exposed pipes doing okay, but they are tucked away from any wind.

Oh, and i hope your pool was full, because the wind and sun will still evaporate up all that water and any air pockets can have ice form around them.

I got scared yesterday when I saw my side yard flooded, luckily it looks like it was my neighbors pool equipment that gave out. I pulled my polaris out too, I was worried about the floating line freezing up. I'm just hoping the power stays on, I don't think it would take long for everything to freeze and it's only going to get colder.

Put a halogen light close to the pipe, will help keep from freezing. Let it run

You’ll need to strip your clothes off and use your body heat to keep the pipes warm.

My shit, blew the fuck up. I think I can save my intelliflo but blew four or five of my pipes, and my ole NFP60 DE filter exploded. I have been considering going to a sand filter anyways right? It was hanging in there until the power dropped 3 days. I was going to have a light remodel this year for 10k, wasn't figuring in new equipment, but my skimmers at least one needed some work anyways. After I figure out what size I need I will try to put this back together. Hope my booster pump survived.

The pond drains out when it dies so hopefully it will live.

I bet SVO knows where a filter junkyard is.

The good news, my fridge condenser was just froze up, got her all patched up.

Yeah once it starts freezing and going to last more than a day you need to shut it down , open the valves on everything, and just let it drain and sit.

Ouch. Switch to cartradge filters. Much easier to maintain.

In my history on this earth I have never been without power at a house over a few hours and never in the winter. It literally cycled off just after I left the house for a 12 hour shift. My pump runs when it gets cold so usually no issues.

I fucking, and I mean absolutely fucking hate catridge filters. The DE filter there was at least twice the size I needed for my pool as I think it would do 96000 gallons in 8 hours even though I never ran it that hard. I might have refreshed it every six months by backwashing and pulled it apart to clean it, I think once the first three years and then every other year after that. Crystal clear water.

I had a catridge system in Lancaster and I cleaned that thing and fought with water conditions all the time. I am going to try a bump system Hayward that turns over 48000 gallons in 8 hours. My pool is about 22k to 25k gallons, I measured it, but the ball section is bigger than most at 22 feet where as the other end is like 13 foot across and only 7.5 feet deep. I was going to try sand but changed my mind.

Man. Sorry to hear that. They are super easy to service in my experiance.

There was a dude I found in Plano a few years ago that sold used / referb pool supplies. Old retired fella that just did it to keep busy. I'll see if I can dig up his info.

There was a guy in Garland that had probably 50 filters in his picture and the lid and slide valve I needed. When I got home he had marked that entire lot sold. SVO said DFW alone knocked out the entire supply of shit nationwide. My FNS Plus doubled in price on Amazon Sunday night. Now think about it, that's before the experts started going to work and buying shit up. After looking at all my options I was just going to put another one on there until they disappeared.
