You know, I just can not ever see a reason for full auto. Well, unless predator drops in, then I want the rail gun. Three round bursts I can see, but just not full auto.

A well trained individual will use the auto mechanism for bursts. I really hate burst because of their overcomplicated mechanisms. For example, on an M-16 if you fire two rounds on semi automatic and then switch to burst, you pull the trigger and only get one shot because the burst cam rotates regardless.

Ideally you get both burst and auto settings though.

Yeah but the mechanisms are ludicrously complex. Burst pack service & maintenence is a whole armorer class, lol.

The navy ditched burst on MP5Ns because people reinstalled stuff backwards which resulted in runaways.

Become a dealer and I can get you a demo letter. Or go the manufacturer route and find someone else surrendering their license.

No letter post sample mp5s go for 5k or so.

But on Sturm the going price for a post sample mp5 right from police inventory to you (dealers are constantly brokering them for PDs) with a letter is about $1,500 or so. A new one from HK Defense isn't much more though, of course they now cannot sell to anyone but the end user due to German law.

Trying to avoid that. The cost involved doesn't work out for one MP5, and I don't have time to actually run that as a business. I just want one semi-auto, so will probably go with a conversion like Alex suggested elsewhere. There are some delirious folks on gunbroker and such...or I'm a cheap bastard, which is quite possible.

                        Edit. See Alex's post above.

                          Thanks for the explanation.

Suppressive fire, or in the case of pistol calibers, room clearing.

When I was a kid the Highland Village PD had some old school M16s and M14s and one M2 carbine. I am sure that they are still floating around there.
