  • Ford to stop selling all small cars in the US but mustang and ford focus active

Disappointing news, to say the least.

If Honda, Toyota can make a killing at cars, no reason a domestic car carrier cant.

It's all part of the CEOs strategy to raise profitibility.

Ford sees 90 percent of its North America portfolio in trucks, utilities and commercial vehicles. Citing a reduction in consumer demand and product profitability, Ford is in turn not investing in the next generation of sedans. The Taurus is no more.
But why? If 10% of your business is costing you so much, you mine as well focus on the 90% to make more money.

Cars are being phased out anyway. I have a feeling my daughter wont give a shit about owning a car as much as I did simply because they are so expensive and dont really give you a return on investment. Cheaper to just use a ride sharing service and jobs are going to become more and more remote anyway.

Re-evaluate your own processes and figure out why if Company X,Y, and Z can do it, why cant my company.

Not having a presence in cars is not the right move and sends a very weird message to consumers.

Our future generations will have fully autonomous autos that are IoT connected and no one will learn how to drive as it will be archaic and freedom to go where you wish it will be forgotten in the name of convenience.

As far as remote workers go, there is a small but increasing trend to bring people back into the office in the name of control. IBM just recalled every employee to the officers or be let go in 2017.

Maybe they should try to buy back some of that Mazda stock?

Ford has a long proud history of cutting their own throats. The ranger was hands down the best selling small truck but they gave that one up. The escort was the number one selling small car in the entire world and they decided they didn't want that either. The Crown Vic was the last of its breed and the tooling to make it was completely paid for and they simply gave them up because they didn't want to redesign the window switches. The Lincoln Town Car and Continental dominated an entire sector of the market and like the Crown Vic the tooling and Factory for it had been paid for 15 years earlier but they gave that one up to.

Why would you change the name of the Taurus?

^^^ Have you seen them? I drove a rented diesel Ranger a year or two ago and was not impressed.

We know not much impresses you. Maybe you should help Ford and call them up. Give them some pointers.

Ford to stop manufacturing of cars

Ford today announced it will phase out most cars it sells in North America. According to its latest financial release, the auto giant "will transition to two vehicles" -- the Mustang and an unannounced vehicle, the Focus Active, being the only traditional cars it sells in the region. Citing a reduction in consumer demand and product profitability, Ford is in turn not investing in the next generation of sedans.

Plus another small suv (I assume it's the opposite demographic of the bronco)

Ford's car problem is the same as GM's and TriStars. Which is the 80's 90's domestic car quality problem as well as being arrogant in their pricing.
