I do realize there are needy kids, especially in rural areas, but how many times have you been behind someone at the store when they get pissed that their Lone Star Card doesn't cover Black&Milds, cigarettes, or beer; only to see them trot out and hop in their Escalade in the parking lot or pull out a wad of cash while in the store? It's bullshit, it's abuse, and it shouldn't be tolerated. And this doesn't just happen in DFW, Houston, and Austin. It's every bit as prevalent in Tyler, Longview, Paris, etc.

I understand, and agree that children shouldn't suffer because their parents are fucking idiots, but where does it stop? A lot of this bullshit would be cut the fuck out if they would make passing a drug test to receive benefits mandatory. I think the dollars spent on drug testing would be well worth it, given the hundreds of millions in free benefits that are being abused. Spend a little to save a fortune, is the way I see it.

And I also have the problem with entitlement programs in general, because as someone else mentioned, it teaches these kids from a young age to have their hand out. In a perfect world, there wouldn't be piece of shit parents. But we all know this isn't a perfect world. That still doesn't make me believe for a second that the abuse that's going on is ok, and that we should all just tolerate it.
There is a website out there where a school in Nebraska audited their free lunch program by sending letters to parents requesting them to verify their income or have their children removed from the program. Roughly half of the people did not respond. Out of that half, you have to wonder how many of those people didn't respond because they didn't read the letter, how many were actually taking advantage, etc. Of course it is also possible that situations may have changed and someone's income may have gone up, that is, they could have been unemployed at the time they signed up. Anyway, there is no real way to quanitfy who fell into which slot. I'm just saying they verified that 50% should be on that program.

While I agree with the idea that entitlement programs should be limited. The limitations should start and end with able bodied adults. As I said, what do I care about paying for a kid's $.75 sandwich? I don't. Sure, sure, it costs the government billions a year but in the grand scheme of things it is pennies. We send more money to the Palestinian terrorists so they can feed future suicide bombers. As I mentioned before, we should take care of old people, the disabled and children because they can't take care of themselves, any civilized society should do that. Able bodied adults can go fuck themselves. I firmly believe that punishing children because their parents are fuck ups will accomplish nothing positive.

I haven't even touched on the fact that is is insane, from a liberterian point of view, that anyone be forced to buy lunch for their kid when the government is the one that mandates they should be away from home in a school. A hundred years ago a lot of children grew up on farms and going to school was optional. Now it is mandatory for them to go, mandatory for me to pay for it if I own property and I also have to pay for them to eat while they are there? Government says they have to be there, why exactly would I pay again?

From 1996, which is probably one of the best economic situations in this country in the last century...

That be the problem with entitlements. Sure there are people that we would all help. Then again, there are parasites that would just love to take advantage of this. Its a never ending cycle of theft and misery.

Free lunch programs and football coach salaries are both pathetic. Both are ruining our country in their own overspend and don't generate anything of value way.

Sure let's not teach adults with children how to earn a living and support their families. That's just plain stupid. Let's build an entire culture on government subsistence and see how that works. Oh wait, we already did that and we're fucked.

Guess what smart guys, back when there were no handouts or cell phones or Excalades there were still poor people. I wonder why that is? Economics maybe? It is all so complicated.

Let's go down to the state school and kick all the retarded kids out on the street too. Fuck them. Next time you go see your grandma at the nursing home, kick her in the shin and tell her to get the fuck up and get a god damn job.

              Fucking morons.

The National School Lunch Act was signed into law in 1946. I wonder what all the "poor" people did before that? They found a way to feed their kids.
The federal government spends 8.5 Billion dollars a year on school lunches. Another big part of this program is if you get free lunch during teh school year you can go get a free lunch during the summer too. How much money and manpower does that waste? Now you are going to tell me that I should be responsible for someone's kids during the summer too.

ZOMG, $8.5 billion dollars, imagine how many coaches you could hire to sit around for that amount of money.

I know a couple that lives with their grandma, just bought themselves two 55" plasma's for Christmas and all 3 draw food stamps.

Entitlements are what is wrong with our country. The thought that someone else is entitled to my hard earned labor is just theft in disguise.

School lunches are just legalized theft at best. The poor kids... the poor kids.... well F them and their idiot parents. If they all die, it's just natural selection at work. If you're too lazy to work, then you don't deserve to eat.

                        Fun with numbers.

You have small districts like Wink-Loving ISD with a total enrollment of 322 and a cost per student of $23K.

You have larger districts like Plano ISD with an enrollment of 50K+ and a cost per student of just under $7K.

Region 11, which is Fort Worth, has an average cost per student of $8K.

You pick a low cost private and do the comparison. Compare that cost to a TCA in Addison, a Greenhill, a Prestonwood, a Hockaday, etc.

If you are going to average out the public schools... average out the private schools.

Not only is it a waste of money it is in keeping with the ideals of socialism and communism. In case people haven't figured it out yet, these philosophies are in direct contrast with freedom and free enterprise. You can't have free enterprise, freedom and free lunch for everybody. Someone has to pay!

Sorry little Timmy, your mommy and daddy do drugs so you cannot eat lunch here at school.

                            Yeah, that sounds nice.

Passing a drug test wouldnt be fair to the kids.

Although I understand why it would be a good idea to do, but I also see a downfall.
