  • Bulk cheese?

While in the process of telling my wife about Hines' meatmarket hookups, she asked "I wonder if you can buy cheeses like that, too?"

So, I gotta ask: Anyone got a bulk cheese hookup, or know where to go to get good bulk cheese at a decent price? Prepackaged, whole wheel, doesn't matter.

    No gubment cheese jokes, please.

I just buy the tillamook from Costco.

The thing is, and I am sure Yale will chime in, cheese doesn't have the right consistancy after you freeze it. I find it to be grainie or gritty after freezing. So buying in huge amounts doesn't seem like a great idea to me. But, maybe that is me being picky.

Of course, if I am doing something wrong and I can freeze it, I would love a bulk hookup as well. We love cheese. I can eat Sharp or extra Sharp cheddar all day.

I'm thinking more along the lines of by the case or whole wheel deals. Storage isn't a problem, we'd just put it in the fridge...my wife and I can kill a 20lb wheel of cheddar before it even thinks about going bad,

If you can pull that off it, makes sense. I dont think we can at our house and we put cheese in a lot of stuff. Cheese gets expensive, and any savings I might be game for.
