  • Texas Rising

The 10 part mini-series on the History Channel starts on Memorial Day. Anyone else looking forward to it? Its supposed to depict Sam Houston and Texas after the fall of the Alamo. Bill Paxton is Sam Houston.

The commercials make me think it is going to be good.

As a Texas history teacher I can't wait for this to come out. There is so much more to Texas's independence than people realize. I hope they do a good job of accurately portraying.

I have, great documentary on Quanah and the Comancheria territory in Texas.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

                  Same.

Doesn't hurt that Bill Paxton is awesome and he's from Fort Worth.

He is also related to Sam Houston.

                            So far I like it.
Half of history is hiding the past.

Lol! Yeah I didn't think it would take long for this. I expected this to be full of the usual Hollywood BS, so I am not as let down as some. Hope the acting gets a little stronger, but so far it's entertaining at least.
