Krell is good stuff, however personally both Krell and Levinson are at the unobtainable levels of audio. Mc is about as reasonable cost to performance as the average person would ever be able to afford.Originally posted by STROKD View PostI didn't google anything. The MC275 is having its 50th Aniversary from when it was made in 61. My pops has had Mc since 74 and he said that was THE amp that got them on the map. Maybe he just meant it's their most popular amp from back then, I figured if a company had an AE amp, itd be for the company and not actually just the amp. Lol
Sorry for my confusion. Still not Pinnacle though (not a Mc fan)... Their is more better shit out there. Ever heard of Krell or Mark Levinson? What about Class'E? Then there are companys I've never heard of thatd cost more than a nice ass house to get into (tier 1), but I'd consider Levinson a Tier 1 for what they cost as well (30-50k for just a couple amps), but you can drop 150k on Krells top of line shit too (still tier 2 imo though).

Maybe 5 in the second tier? lol where do you come up with this stuff?

LOL, they started business in 1961. Not so much pinnacle, they are one of maybe 5 on the second tier of high end audio...Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostYep... McIntosh is the pinnacle of audio. I have a McIntosh amplified tube stereo, and I've had McIntosh home theater receivers. They are quite expensive and not for the weak of wallet, that's for sure. I've never seen these before, pretty interesting. Great company, made in America... all hand built components, you can give them a call and they will know which person built the unit and their service is excellent. They service all of their products, even back to the 50's.

One of the first things I did after I moved to FTW was to buy a McIntosh preamp and amplifier from the old Marvin Electronics when they were over by TCU. Still going strong.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostYep... McIntosh is the pinnacle of audio. I have a McIntosh amplified tube stereo, and I've had McIntosh home theater receivers. McIntosh is the shit; I have some of their commercial amps from the early 90's.
If you feel like taking the time to do it you can build some tube amps that are as good but you will still have $4k into them.

I replace my McIntosh speakers (1 pair in each room) once every couple of years so they wont get worn out. They seem to like em when I donate em to the local thrift store.

Speakers so loud that they can blow a woman's clothes off? 30K should be nothing to the DFWM ballers. Those things are awesome, but you have to have more money than brains to buy something like that.

Not that I can afford them, but $10k a pair is really at the bottom end of the spectrum when it comes to speakers. Hell, I've seen $100,000+ turntables (without the cartridge) and $10,000+ speaker wire.

2 of those had to have been sold to someone here, I'm sure of it!
