I'm pretty sure if I go to school or get someone to teach me, I can do it without a union. Unions should be destroyed. Groups that teach you a trade and ensure it's done to the group's spec that is higher than normal standards like the old guilds? That I'm behind.

They have been removed from the real world for so long that they don't realize that everyone doesn't get pensions, automatic wage increases, or free/dirt cheap health insurance. If their jobs went away and they went to search for another job, they would get laughed out of any HR office with their wage requirements.

So to me, the stereotype of a typical union worker being overpaid, unproductive, and ungrateful isn't that far off.
First union member that I've heard speak the truth. Thank you

Why doesn't everyone that talks shit about unions post up what kind of job they have. Half the nay sayers don't have a pot to piss in and are just bitter.
Retired Army Infantry. Not as complicated as running a train on a track by automation but...

More than it took for him to be qualified to be a pipefitter.

I posted what I do, hell I even posted which union I was in, and how long I was in it.

I see why the guy is mad, he claims it took him five years to train for a job that can legally be done by a 16 year old drop-out that has never done a day's work.

They only use the money when times are bad. We also have to vote to let them use it...You would be surprized how often we are cheaper than a non-union company is.The last couple years have been bad on everyone and they have been using some of that money to get work.
