Your so right zero training, hell anybody can go weld on a nuke or on a chill water system, steam system and so on.....Oh I forgot anyone can come out and figure a 18 degree rolling set on a piece of 24' pipe.Or how to make a pipe saddle.

I'm pretty sure if I go to school or get someone to teach me, I can do it without a union. Unions should be destroyed. Groups that teach you a trade and ensure it's done to the group's spec that is higher than normal standards like the old guilds? That I'm behind.
As a dues paying union member, I realize that I don't work in the "real world." Therefore, I do the best job I can as I am grateful for the opportunity. Sadly, many that I work with have an overwhelming sense of entitlement, are lazy as fuck, don't even perform the basic job duties, and do nothing but bitch about how they don't get paid enough to do what they do. They have been removed from the real world for so long that they don't realize that everyone doesn't get pensions, automatic wage increases, or free/dirt cheap health insurance. If their jobs went away and they went to search for another job, they would get laughed out of any HR office with their wage requirements.
So to me, the stereotype of a typical union worker being overpaid, unproductive, and ungrateful isn't that far off.
First union member that I've heard speak the truth. Thank you
How much training did it take you to be a know it all on dfwmustangs lol?
Why doesn't everyone that talks shit about unions post up what kind of job they have. Half the nay sayers don't have a pot to piss in and are just bitter.
Retired Army Infantry. Not as complicated as running a train on a track by automation but...
It takes zero training and experience to be a pipefitter. State the truth, you spent 5 years to get into the union to do a job that requires zero training and experience.

I posted what I do, hell I even posted which union I was in, and how long I was in it.
I see why the guy is mad, he claims it took him five years to train for a job that can legally be done by a 16 year old drop-out that has never done a day's work.

No I don't have a state issued pipefitter license.... we both know they dont have one,but yes I'm a BTJ pipefitter and that took 5 years to get.I could have done more hours in school to become a licensed plumber but like I said before I choose to weld instead. It is alot easier to travel as a welder/fitter in my trade and I chased around overtime years ago.

Just answer the question, do you hold a state-issued piperfitter license? How much training and education did it take to qualify for that state-issued pipefitter license?

I understand that every licensed plumber is legal, but we both know that there "helpers" may not be.That's all Im saying.
Well Im a welder and hold 8 certs.I can weld with mig, tig, and stick.I can list them all if you want. I can travel all over and weld.

The reason your union is paying $12,000 a week is because your union contracts are overpriced and not competitive, so you're supplementing the bids to make them more reasonable compared to non-union bids. You're kinda proving my point.
They only use the money when times are bad. We also have to vote to let them use it...You would be surprized how often we are cheaper than a non-union company is.The last couple years have been bad on everyone and they have been using some of that money to get work.
So everyone that does plumbing is legal right?? I mean there can't be a master plumber there and everyone work off him?? We both know that there is somebody there at all times checking to see if everyone has a license right??
Every licensed plumber is legal. I am not sure why you keep banging your head on that.
and yes I'm a pipefitter, I worked years ago as a plumber.
I liked welding and fitting more so went in that direction. My union hall does hvac, pipefitting and plumbing
