Im sorry, Ill type it slower this time..He said he can sit around and be fat and lazy. I then said I wish I had your job maybe I should go non-union. It was a joke get it??
I sure can, because I am on no one else's clock. Maybe you should indeed stop working for other people and work for yourself.
They all use a certain figure while bidding a job. In my case we do not supply our own tools, hard hats, fall protection and so on. So the company makes up for this in other ways while bidding.
You sit there and say that Im totally against helping out the company and we screw them to death.Little do you know that every member out of my hall (around 1200) puts in $10 a week into a fund that the compaines use to help them bid against a non-union company to help get more work for us and them.If we sat around and didn't work we would both would be sittin at the house.
The reason your union is paying $12,000 a week is because your union contracts are overpriced and not competitive, so you're supplementing the bids to make them more reasonable compared to non-union bids. You're kinda proving my point.
As I struggled to understand what you're trying to communicate to me, I can't help but wonder if you even know what you're trying to say.

Lol we take more pride in our work? Ever thought about that statement before regurgitation the union talking points? Tell me, if you take pride in your work does that mean you feel you're worth more than non-union employees? Are you implying that since you believe you work harder that you must form a union to collectively bargain for higher wages?
If you fail to see my point, allow me to explain. If you are in fact... Lets say 50% higher efficiency than your non-union counterparts, then your employer would only require half as many employees, correct? If that's the case, why do unions use non-union workforce figures in contract bargaining? Why do they refuse to allow lower workforces if you do in fact work harder and at higher efficiencies? If unions were to make a conclusive case they were lets say 20% more efficient, they could make an honest case to accept higher pay rates at the cost of a reduction of workforce - but they do not do this. That is where they take advantage of corporations. It is very unfortunate Hell-Bent that I've personally found most people most versed in union economics are non-union employees.

I said that a general contractor sets certain rules for a job,and some companies can make there own standard. Just like in the case you talked about it didn't have any thing to do with the union it had to do with the contractor.
The union had the most-lax standard, my non-union contractor had higher standards. This contradicts your statements about unions having a higher standard.
I never said that they get around certain licenses, but I did say that they dont always use a LEGAL person.I'm so sorry that I have a problem with companies using ILLEGALS to do there work. I wish it was harder for a company to hire them, I just believe our country has a big issue with this.
In the state of Texas, an illegal cannot obtain a plumbing license. This contradicts your statements about non-union companies using illegals to do work which requires a state issued license.
I'm not asshurt at all just jelous, maybe I should go non-union
I have call bullshit, your comments about "Are you sure that your not the fat lazy union people you keep talking about?Or is it ok for you to screw your company out of there time" reek of asshurtedness.

Im calling bullshit on the statement you said about dropping things because we both know that on a job site the general contractor sets the rules for stupid things like that.
The general contractor does not set the standards for the individual companies, if a company decides to be more strict than the general contractor, it is their choice.
Sounds like Brown and root made different rules for there workers, and they don't care if they run you off cause they got 10 more mexicans waiting for the job. Atleast my crappy Union is putting food on American plates and not just hiring people that are illegals so the company makes more money.
Again, you are implying that non-union employees can some how get around the licenses.
BTW if all of you are such hard working non-union people then how come you are on here all dam day? Are you sure that your not the fat lazy union people you keep talking about?Or is it ok for you to screw your company out of there time, because only union people do that.
Why are you suddenly so asshurt?
I can be as fat and lazy as I want considering I only do service work, give bids and subcontract when I choose.
Being in a union just means we take a little more pride in our work...If that wasn't true then how come we go around fixing the non-union stuff??
Your crazy as hell if you don't think we will get fired, happens all the time in my trade.Im calling bullshit on the statement you said about dropping things because we both know that on a job site the general contractor sets the rules for stupid things like that. Sure there work might be up to code as far as a weld or specs on a certain thing.. but at the same time if you came out and looked at the way they just throw crap up without it being plum, level,or square.
I guess being in a union magically make makes people have better work ethics?
You might have a different look at things. For example I just left a job where a non-union company came in and did all kinds of wrong things, we then had to fix everything. In doing so we had to cut out a bunch of pipe and welds and guess what we found all kinds of crap left in the system (levels, tape measure, and a 24" pipe wrench) is that ok for them to do that??
These are examples of work not done to code or poor work ethics. Being a union worker doesn't magically make your work better, it just makes it harder for you to get fired when you fuck up. If I left foreign items in a med-gas line, I would get fired, a union worker doesn't. That is an incentive for me to do work right, not so much for a union worker.
Example: Working for Brown and Root at Comanche Peak, if you dropped something from height one time (tape measure, wrench, etc) you were fired on the spot due to safety reasons, the union workers, it was three times. I had to dodge shit all day dropped by union workers, it happened seldom with non-union workers.
Unions had a time and place FreightTrain. Just as employers grew to exploit their employees do you not see the arrogance in thinking employees are immune to the same exploitation against their employers?
The injustice of unions is the greed of the individual. Much like the slippery slope of socialism, what one reveres and envies - once received - is now expected. The individual no longer sees the benefits of hard work to further his responsibility and career - it is easier achieved by exploiting ones company, and demanding even more outrageous pay and benefits. It is a vehicle for failure of the capitalist system, which is built on survival of the fittest, not protection for the incompetent.
Not in this case. If all unions died, you wouldn't go into a factory and see 10 year olds chained to machines and being forced to work. The people would burn that mutha down and lynch the guy responsible. I would, at least. Nor will you see people working for nearly free. Not when you can walk across the street and get a higher paying job. Barring the complete collapse of the US government, that shit ain't going back to the way it was. Ever.
The cancer is spreading. Unions RUIN companies. My family knows more about unions than most anyone, with the shit we had to deal with. Fucking psychos. Hear about the HVAC small business owner up north? The union tried to MURDER him in his front yard.
LOL they tried that shit here in the 70's on the construction sites in Dallas. They found out real quick, we where faster on the draw. Yes I was there working for my uncle (welder)
