I do not have the answers and I don't claim to. I just know what I have felt and I try to get closer to God and be a better person. I hang out with good, honest, hard working people that may not have the same religious views as me, but does not matter because they still treat others the way they want to be treated.

Guys, you won't get it until you get it. End of story. I don't try to persuade anyone into it or tell you that you are going to hell if you don't believe. I don't know how it works. One day you just wake up and you get hit by a friggin truck. I don't know if anyone is going to hell and i don't care. I try to offer a helping hand to those that need it and share what i have learned with those that need it. You can seek God all you want and you may find that this takes your further from him.

Now, to reply to Maddhattter, nobody knows which God to worship. For all we know, they may all be right. I just know that a true Christian will help you when you are down. Not preach to you about what you are doing wrong or what the right answer is. A man that knows God will help you and expect nothing in return. We don't have to quote the Bible or argue.......we just stop and help you when we can. That is what knowing God is about. Helping and showing your fellow human being some love, compassion, and understanding.

Exactly. The reason most want to spread the word of God is to share with others the feeling. There are so many people out there that "spread the word of God" but honestly know nothing about it. They were brought up to believe and fear if they do not, then they are doing wrong. The last thing I want to do is ever push someone away from God, so i do not pretend to know more than what I know. For the most part, yes you are right. But see, God "requires" faith. And when you put your faith into action, God fullfills. Kind of like a light switch if you will. The switch representing faith. Flick the switch and God is on sort of speak.

And therein lies the problem. Something is automatically wrong when it requires the use of faith. My next sentence is going to sound really dickish, but I've no clue how to word it any other way. Faith is belief without evidence. And when something requires (which is the case here) belief before you can believe, it doesn't have a hill of beans chance of standing up to scrutiny.

The analogy of parents making Santa real is off too. No parent can make God real. They can cause you to believe, but Santa never enters your soul.

When I was a child I was far more worried about what Santa thought of me than what god thought of me, solely because obeying santa had tangible benefits/drawbacks, and god did not.

I'd venture a guess as to say that you only use faith in your belief in god, everywhere else in your life you apply some degree of skepticism and require even a small amount of evidence that justifies your actions regarding those things.
