Yes he could and probably will. He's already appointed new National Intelligence and CIA directors. That doesn't mean whoever gets canned won't end up being a private contractor though.

Sounds like they'd actually have to perform, if that happened. It does seem to me that the CIA should be under total control of the potus or congress, but if you look at history, they've all kind of been at odds with each other a lot.

Which I always thought was bullshit, and whomever at the top was "competing" with other agencies, should have been fired with extreme prejudice. It should be more like - The elected officials tell you what to do, and you fucking do it! Got it?? None of this inter agency competition bullshit. That's a big ass threat to U.S security.
