At 65 it turns about 3K RPMs. Maybe it's OK for long rides at that but it feels like it's a little high. My buddy with a newer 1200 does'nt have a tach, so I'm not sure what his runs.
Part of it may be the rigid mount motor and short pipes make it sound/feel like it's running hard.
I've done a poker run that was about 125 miles and it did fine.

i like the wide glide front end. why is not good on the highway? my buddies 1200, stock gearing, did fine on longer trips to hard 8 in stephenville.Originally posted by Cam_Stang View Post90 1200 Sportster with Wide Glide conversion front. Dakota Digital dash. Softail tins I picked up last Oct. It's fun around town and short trips. Not a great highway bike eaven after adding 2 teeth to the front sprocket.

Go up a couple of posts. It is a 96 and I have owned it three years. It has a whopping 23k miles. A 70 year old bought it new and never put that many miles on it. It is on craigs for 7800 and my bottom dollar is 7k. All fresh fluids, plugs, suspension, grips, Mustang seat, radio, etc. Last year of the carb for these.Originally posted by fordracing19 View PostPics?
