Seriously, not all website shopping carts keep an active/accurate quantity on hand, as they do not tie into an inventory system. So they may require someone to manually update out of stock items.

Maybe the guy who does that was out of the office today. Maybe his kid was in an accident and he is at the hospital right now watching his child cling for their life. So sorry he didn't have time to update the damn website, and that their shitty customer service had to take the time to call you to ask you what you would like to do.

Shit happens and there is not 100% guaruntee that every buying experience is going to be perfect. It sounds like there was an issue, they tried to rectify it and thats all that can be done.

That's pretty obvious, but why leave it on the website as "In Stock" when you have already emailed me saying it is backordered?

I ordered some Alumina flip up lens covers for one of my Leupolds from Optics Planet. Found out after that they were on back order and cancelled the order. 4-6 weeks later I got them in the mail and they never charged my card...

It is very common on car audio electronics sites. Advertise some amp they don't have for 1/2 price, attempt to switch customer to something "just as good", profit. Some companies even ship you an item. Some don't.
