I read an article written by the officer who came out on top in this encounter. He made 2 points that have stuck with me. He believed that the 200gr +p gold dots that he was using were not the best load to use; he has since switched to 230gr gold dots. The second point that he made is that he should have tried for head shots from the first pull of his trigger.

Another odd thing about this shooting is that the Glock 21 that the office was shot with was a gun that was sold new to a local(to him) PD.

Marketing directly to PD's and SO's was a big part of Glock's plan to gain market share when they came in, and a big reason they have so much. One of Ferdinand Glock's friends in the '80's was a naturalized Austrian-American with an FFL and a mobile show room. They made each other a lot of money.

Regency Square Mall make The Parks Mall look like the Galleria. It is wayyyy ghetto. I used to live about 1/4 mile from there. I actually met Officer Reston when he was responding to a B&E call 2 apartments down from me. He was still a rookie at the time and took a statement from me. He was one of those guys that you could "just tell" that he was going to be outstanding. And yes, I moved out of there less than a month later, that whole area was a shithole.
