Bench clearing Lacrosse Brawl

Fights happen in sports, gonna always happen. Refs can only show overwheming suppression force in their numbers to quell those.

But when the fight turns into a riot - theres gotta be something that can be done. Letting them "fight it out" is not an option from a safety perspective.

But heres the rub - referees are not peace keepers. They are there to enforce and judge the rules of the game. If the benches get cleared in a fight - boom, game over, both teams forfeit and refs leave the field of play. Both teams then get disciplined by the sanctioning body.

Make an example of the teams that act like an ass (ie up to and even including loss of season) and it will become less common. If it does become more common we'll start seeing security and police just like European style football matches. And that is beyond depressing to think about.

This makes the most sense and seems fair.

Nah, just pepper spraying them sounds much easier. Sort of like going through a drive thru instead of bothering to cook. Who has the time for well thought out, non immediate gratification any more?

exactly. now almost every person has a camcorder on thier phone, so shit that has always happens is being brought to a more public view and people are making a fuss about it. they are just kids being kids filled with agression. i say it's better to let them wear themselves out on the field fighting than in school

i played football at john b hood middle school(pretty rough school back in the late 90's, it still is from what i hear) and we had a few full out brawls, all lasted about as long as that one. sure some of us needed stitches/staples and had a few black eyes, but none of us died or were permanently injured. young dumb kids are always gonna do shit like that
