I made my first tiki man today

burning the wood. I was curious how to get the dark color in the grooves.
I guess that'll be my issue with a tiny one. My grooves are only about 1/8'' thick. I would torch the whole thing if i tried that.

I'm surprisingly bad at this.

Doesnt come overnight bro. a cigar lighter gives you that look on the small ones and a cutoff wheel on a grinder gives you that look on the big ones.

Try a dremel with a cut off disc.

Burned the details in with my cigar torch and stained it with an orange/red stain. Coated with satin polyurethane

Is any wood acceptable? That seems like a silly question.
