I was just telling a buddy about how many times I've seen fork failures of wal-mart bikes. I've never heard anyone say "Ehh, no biggie, my fork just sheered off of the steerer at full speed. I'm just going to walk out"

Hey Greg, I'm looking to get a bike too. Want a full suspension baaaad. Ive had my specialized rockhopper 29er has been awesome. Hard tail has been good for my on pavement riding and the light trail riding I've done. But, that bike stays at work 90% of the time with my road tires on it.

I just bought a Genesis 29er from wally world. I haven't ridden in a LONG time so I kinda want to open back up with a cheaper bike I wouldn't feel bad about tearing up. It actually got some pretty good reviews and rides really good IMO. Plus my company gives me 200$ allowance to buy "exercise" equipment and this bike was 199$. I like it for what it is.

A multi speed setup to hold my power costs a ton.

I dont have a fucking idea what i do on a legpress, weigh under 200 and don't ever have a problem because i know what fucking gear to be in before hitting a climb.

If you are at a stoplight and start off in 3rd gear, it doesnt matter how much "powah" you have - you're an idiot because you cant drive.

    L----O----L.

I agree that geared bikes are a PITA for a big guy, but with a bit of finesse and proper gear selection it can be minimized. Shimano's SLX group is the best strength for the buck group, as strong as XT at half of the price.
