Was he convicted, served time/probation, or deferred adjudication. Deferred changes things a bit...

10yrs after completing his/her sentence a felon can legally own a firearm per state laws, but federal laws say permanent ban. If the person is an otherwise law-abiding citizen and is found to be in possession after 10yrs clean, I highly doubt the feds would pick up the charge.

Felons and Firearms question
Whats the deal on this - is it an automatic ban? Is it for life or a period of time?
I'm not in a place i can research so i'm posing up a question to see if any of you who are bored can answer for me.
Heres the situation - i was let know that a client who was convicted of attempting to murder his wife is in possession of a handgun. Hes playing with it in his office, showing it to people behind closed doors and generally being a fucktard about it. Even if he had the legal right to own one i would be first in line to take it away and pistol whip him about the head for being a moron.
I'm across town and this is 2nd hand info from someone in the office.Tags: None
