No one "Needs" a $1200 Ruger 10/22 either.

I have 3 light that are on my desk that I have more then $400 in.

Do yourself a favor and build one of these. You will wonder how you got by without one and you will have a ton of fun at the same time.

I will be building one if I can find someone to build the heatsink... The charger can be held here for $14.50 free shipping:

These cells fully charged are reading 4.2 volts. Also there is the length difference. With the 2D cell unit you can play with it just enough to get 2 cells to fit. If you go more it will just not work out. Here is a shot of the height difference between regular D cell batteries and the ones that this build uses.

No, but it would help you blind someone.
this sounds like lose. I can't beat people with a 2 cell maglite.

The issue I have with LED flashlights is durability. They always crap out. I've dropped 3 led mag lights and they broke. Most the first time. I just won't spend money for something that is so fragile. These LED's appear to be the same PCB style.

I am unsure of the wattage of the LED. It is not cut form the same cloth as the stock led bulb in the maglites though. It is mounted on an aluminum board. I will say that there is nothing inside this maglite that is stock so your chance of breaking it would be slim. The maglite host itself is pretty sturdy. The only thing I would think would be any more fragile would be the front lens as it is glass instead of the scratch prone plastic that comes stock.
