Career paths?

Oh, OP... work for an investment bank. More coin than the other options and the general public will have a very high opinion of your profession, lol!

I didn't read the entire second page, so pardon me if I'm saying something that's already been covered.
I met with my divorce attorney today. He is a former bar assoc. president, top 5% family atty in TX, and has more awards and commendations than I can even list. So, he can command this type of rate and people are jumping all over themselves to pay it. That rat bastard charges $400/hr, plus a $10,000 retainer, plus court/paperwork costs. Sounds like a good career path to me if you've got the intellect. Jesus. I asked him if it came with a complimentary hooker and blow. He laughed in my face.

He had to take Lvl 2 twice. Level 2 is an absolute beast. I think it had about 4000 pages of material, and the exam itself is brutal. He said it's the roughest exam he ever took... that's saying a lot. I guess I can be glad just to have that one behind me.Originally posted by Sean88gt View PostLMAO! I'm sure he sailed through.

Not only that, but by the time he graduates $60,000 isn't going to be as much as it is worth now.

CFA Level 3 is this Saturday. Uggghh...Originally posted by Slowhand View PostThat's what I'm trying to figure out; I don't think you even get away with paying that to a Tech grad! (kidding, calm down raider rashers) And $60k is too high for a paralegal straight out of school unless his dad is just willing to overpay him.
Also, you're the worst offender of all: an undergraduate degree, an MBA, and working towards one of the more prestigious professional certifications?! You're clearly one of those people that's going to be in management because you're a liability in the trenches. Wait, no, that's everyone in management. Duh.

I've heard of public defenders making about $50,000 - $60,000 (previous clients, not friends of mine who went to Tech
). I also know of attorneys that make that monthly so you pretty much just have to pick the right specialization/firm as near as I can tell.

Ha, the first time I read that $60k comment I didn't think he was talking about post- law school. Now that I reread it, maybe he is. Jesus, I certainly hope not, that's awful. I would have to imagine that graduates from even the shitty, lower-tiered law schools fetch way more than that.

No kidding...who the fuck would want to do that bullshit for 60K? I'm a measly engineer just a year and a half out of college making a bit more than that.Originally posted by slow99 View PostSchool is worthless!! There's some good advice in this thread, though.
Law school isn't cheap or easy enough to only net you $60k coming out of school.Last edited by slow99; 06-01-2011, 05:16 PM.
