I'd like to point out that while he did kill his passenger, the passenger was more than likely at the bar with him so he knew how intoxicated Dunn was. It's not like he hit a pedestrian. Get in the car (any car, let alone a sports car) with someone that's intoxicated and you are knowingly putting your life in their hands.
