I've noticed this as well. They're the fox body of engines. Millions of parts, millions of combinations, and ease of availability. SBC were the hot rod standard for years so the "mullets" don't venture outside that realm. I'm not one for badge mixing so I would prefer a classic to be kosher.

Presently, you could put a supra motor in a '95 Taurus Wagon and it would be innovative. Someone's probably done it and posted the complete step-by-step guide on the interwebz.

So to Tannerm, if a chebby in a mustang pisses you off, what about a import motor in a stang? Im contemplating that very thing for my next toy

aftermarket started supporting the sbc as a replacement to the flathead when it was released in 55. that aftermarket support has carried till now. you see a ton more ford powered rods now than you use to.

350s are cheap, and yeah you can make them quick but IMO theyre junky.

    IMO

    4.6 DOHC > ls1
    5.0 DOHC > ls3
    302/351 > 305/350
    BBF CJ > BBC

Ls6 and ls7 are the best n/a American made engines. IMO.

Just so much stupid in one post. I'm amazed.

You can make more power for less money with a 350, that's probably the biggest reason, along with Chevy put that engine in everything so they are all over the junkyards

Your showing your age junior, enlighten us on why it takes someone special to work on a 302/351. This will get good.

But not as easily. Show me a 302 or 351 that you can pull from the junkyard, pop a cam in and make 450hp.

Why do people use mustangs? Thats right, because they work and are cheap. Same with LSX's and the same with SBC's back in the day. They were everywhere and cheap to build.
