Entrapment was made legal in the 90's.

Entrapment in Teas by Law Enforcement is illegal. That said, merely affording someone the opportunity to commit a crime and on their own free will is not entrapment. Example, OP agrees to make a buy, and is subsequently arrested at the meet up.

For real. I used to smoke a little in high school, but pretty much quit after. Got a text a few months ago from a guy who everyone knew got busted by the cops a couple months BEFORE that, whom I never kept in contact with, asking if I wanted to buy a couple ounces. Dude tried to set me up.

I doubt that he was trying to set you up. That would be called entrapment. Sounds like he was desperate to make a few dollars and he thought of you and/or he had weight he needed to offload and was contacting everyone he could think of.
