I've stayed relatively quiet in this thread but I'll add a bit of personal experience... I've learned that when someone is very accustomed to a certain behavior, when time comes they are going to shut down. It won't matter how much you change, it won't matter how better off you end up after making your changes and it sure as hell won't mean a damn thing when you realize what you've lost and it's too late... They are gone until they can see it for themselves.

Some get lucky and they have a significant other that believes them and sees it and wants to have the better you... They give you the opportunity to show them and they want to support you. Some (like you and I apparently) have created a monster in the person that loves them built out of resentment and fear. That monster won't go away on your terms, ever.

I have no doubt that over time, if you TRULY are changing for the better, she will turn towards you again. She will see the difference in the way the kids and friends act around you and talk about you. She might even fall IN love with you again. Only time will tell. The problem with the whole mess is that if/when it happens, you might not be on the same page. Oddly enough, SHE might be too late. She might also be right on time life is funny that way.

Whatever the future holds for you, Levi, keep your head up. You've got good friends and you're not a loser. Take some time and let everything settle: reflection is a mighty powerful asset. You might just realize things are actually not so bad now! You've got a lot of life ahead of you, keep truckin' Holmes!

Yeah, I did have that attitude. I used to get into a pissing contest with guys like davbrucas because of the stupid shit they say. Take for instance the "I wouldnt be whining about it" comment. Well, until you have ever fucking been in my shoes you have no fucking clue just what you would do. And since when does asking for help from people you have come to know over the years been considered whining? It's just comments like that used to make me drop a bitch, but I have grown up and moved on. Now I just shake my head and say to myself "whatever you say tough guy."

Lol I didnt say too much that was overly kind... More just matter-of-fact. A few folks here know what ive been dealing with the past few months, and a lot of what you're going through is strikingly similar to my own situation (woman only no kids obviously). I've been busting my ass and doing exactly what I told her I set out to do... The question is will she be there when I'm done? Will I ever be done? I have no idea, but oddly I am not too concerned if she is going to be around or not.

Wasn't the whole purpose of turning a new leaf to make you a better man? Wasn't it to change your life for the better, for the kids etc? That needs to remain your focus. Not her. If she wants to come around she will. You can't stop because she's not responding the way you anticipated. Keep making Levi a better Levi.
