    So as long as they keep paying their minimum and jumping through hoops to make it look like they are responsible, they keep going further and further in debt.

    Happens all the time. That was an exceptionally large one, but I regularly see people with 20-100k in revolving debt. The higher the credit score, the more often it happens, usually.

    One family had all those accounts and more broken down for groceries, utilities, insurance, etc. They also had separate savings accounts for each child and each had their own 529 account. There were 27 accounts and the highest balance was $500, most were under $100.
