Forced weak handshake...

I hate the limp fish grab I get from some people. If you're going to shake my hand, I want to hear some fucking knuckles crack, be it mine or yours.

The first one earlier this week was like this. The second one he closed around my fingers before I could get a firm grasp.

The first one I just let it slide, but was uneasy the whole time, and the second one, I demanded a re-do.

The meetings went fine, as they were already clients just on site visits to tour our facilities and warehouses.

I just hate it when they fuck up the handshake and then act like it was your fault.

I hate the fuck out of that shit. I play tennis and have to shake hands with the opponent after every game. I have gotten like 2 out of 300 handshakes that were even worth my time.

A handshake can be a big first impression. You can be firm (even with a lady) and not come across like you're trying to tear their hand off. Women can appreciate a manly hand-shake, too.

In the past two weeks I've had 2 women compliment my hand shake and 2 other bitch because they said it was too firm. Fuck 'em.

That is the biggest problem I have seen. I don't know why people do that.

Irritating as all get-out. I grab the wrist with my left hand when that happens.

Most women I know (including many wonderfully intelligent, sweet, all around great women), give dainty handshakes. In fact, when a woman gives a real firm handshake, it's likely to make them seem a little bull dyke-ish. I agree with the above posters who said it's tough shaking a woman's hand, because most give and expect to receive a gentle, polite shake where you're simply going through the motion. Every now an then you get the chick who wants to shake like a man, as if they have something to prove.

Without any doubt, if I shook every woman's hand the way I shake a man's, I'd get a lot of whining and/or dirty looks.

That said, men should give other men a firm handshake. I have giant paws, and seem to get the fingers grabbed a lot. Come in flat palmed and wait for full engagement to start the squeeze. Oh, and why do some little guys have to squeeze as hard as they can until their veins pop out of their neck? Trying too hard is almost as bad as a limp handshake.

Oh, and when in doubt, go for the high five!

In our neck of the woods it's incredibly different. We be kawntry folk! A lot of our women have just as many callouses as the men. The women expect the men to shake their hand firm. There are girls nowadays that don't expect it, but typically they aren't really worthy of much more than being cordial for the moment.

An awkward handshake is when someone goes for the shake when your right hand is occupied, like working on a car. Or, when you initiate an handshake with someone missing a right arm (I've done that many times).

Oh... and the bro shake - the vertical hand grasp, chest bump thing... Sometimes I get guys that go in for the bro shake, and I dont' expect it. Then it makes me feel uncomfortable. Or, especially when I fail to achieve proper hand approach angle, and they mistakenly assume I'm going for a bro shake. Then they think I'm some sort of douche. After this awkward moment the possiblity of me remembering your name drops from 20% to 5%.

I've only had someone try that bro-shit with me a few times, I always just look at them like they are retarded. I'll shake a stranger's hand, but I'm not going nipple-to-nipple with someone I don't know.
