All of this from a dog that was properly trained, house broke, gun broke, and never leaves my side. He went from being the smartest best damned dog I had ever owned to the your ass is out of here dog in a little less then 2 months. It is unbelievable...never seen anything like it. He is worse then my 4 yr old boy in testing my patience. I used to could snap, whistle, signal, or call him and he would get to the spot asap....not anymore....it's like calling a cat now.
My dog went through the same thing when he was 1 year old. That is always when he first learned about electricity. Problem solved.

If it is near a wall maybe you have a mouse in the wall. We had one in the wall between the living room and garage and my dog went crazy barking and digging at the edge of the carpet right there.

Yes a thunderstorm will make it dig. My lab digs up every rug in the house during storms. If it keeps happening try a thunder coat.

Could there have been a thunder storm come through when no one was home ?
When my female was a pup, she dug a hole through the carpet to the concrete. Later in life she chewed a 12in round hole through the flat wood panels of my fence, completely ripped a pet door out of my back door taking almost the whole bottom half of the door with it. She has dug numerous hole a foot or deeper under the fence.
I'm sure there is some other crazy shit that she has done, but I cant remember right now. Anyways, she doesn't like thunder one bit lol

Maybe he got cold/hot? Or wanted something more comfortable to lay on?
