True and a good point. I don't have stop losses on anything I own though. Much of it I have owned for many years and my entry price is very low compared to market today, Exxon is a great example of that. In fact, I WANT the things I own to go down in the short term because I will buy more. Don't get me wrong, it is nice to see a big account value but it sucks to sit and buy nothing for months and months at a time. I tried to buy Tesco yesterday but it didn't quite make it to my strike price. That would be my first buy of 2012.

I do buy and sell a lot of options though, tons of fun and money in that racket. Sometime in the future, when my account is huge, I am sure I will start using them to hedge my positions.

Good luck to you too man, I want everyone to make money at the game in their own way.

Fact is, you might make money gambling on them but when the shit hits the fan again and it will, only a question of when, these companies die like flies in winter. They'll take every bit of money you have made in the last few years with them when they do too.

I see WPRT did a secondary yesterday, 5.5 million shares at $43.25. Bad day to be riding that bus...

Completely. We just take some backward-looking metrics like sma's and share price 2 years ago and make an investment call on it.
