My dog is as dumb as a bucket of hammers, but he can take off full sprint after a rabbit, and will stop and turn around when I yell his name. Just because a dog isn't on a leash, doesn't mean you don't have control. Also, how do you propose holding a leash with a dog on the other end of it, while unloading groceries from your car?

That said, there isn't even enough in the article to make an assumption that the dogs were out of control. But for the sake of the story, let's say they were out of control... They are on their property, where they belong, when the officer was somewhere he did NOT belong. I don't give a fuck if they were rabid and foaming at the mouth. I'd be suing the shit out of the City, and going after him on the civil side as well.

Why didn't he just "wrestle" it to the ground?

Yep, and parents don't have control of their kids unless they maintain constant physical contact either.

Doesn't sound like the dog was out of control to me. And the cop jumped on a pillar to get away from them because they were "barking" at him? That doesn't sound like a bunch of made up bullshit or anything.

I agree. FWPD could quickly squash the issue by making the dash cam video/audio available.

Seems like every time they go to an address they don't belong at they like to shot something and make up a sad it was attacking me story. One day someone needs to shoot back kill the officer then it's the story of a trespasser waving a gun around shooting my animals and I was afraid he would shoot me next. No leg to stand on since the officer was where he didn't belong was trespassing and was waving a gun around. I would call not guilty in a shooting like that.

My dogs dont leave the property unless they have a leash. Not because they are dangerous but because once they step out of the house i still need to maintain control. Yelling after an untrained dog is pointless. Just because they know their name isnt "trained".

We live in a pretty quiet neighborhood without many strangers approaching. However, one day I was out in the front yard doing some yardwork and my Catahoula was sitting in the shade close to me when a meter reader from the city of Bedford came walking down the sidewalk. The dog immediately started barking and running toward the man. It scared the crap out of the poor guy and I got the dog to calm down and come back into his own yard. I apologized profusely to the guy and he said it just caught him by surprise. He was carrying pepper spray on his belt and I assume if I hadn't been there, he would have used it and had every right to do so.

I'm just happy it wasn't one of Bedford's brave and courageous police officers. I fear the old three-legged dog would have been a goner before I could get to my feet.

Your front porch isn't your property?
