How do you "trade" cars?

I registered the coupe today, they asked what I paid, told them $1000. That's the number she used to calculate the taxes. Right at $100 for taxes and tags and title transfer.

Not necessarily, just in the last 4 years I've been given a clean title by mistake on 2 different vehicles when they still had a lien on them. One was the banks fault, one was a dealerships fault.

Found out you just tell them its an even trade- no taxes to pay. Only title registration fees
