if its been that long and they haven't contacted you in the first week they couldn't identify the bike.

Either vin was scratched or damaged and or bike was too damaged.

So how do you think they were able to identify it now? Either way, the fee's should be waived IMO. Sounds like a case of paperwork backlog and the owner gets the shaft.

My friends Firebird sat in the Garland lot for a couple of months after it was stolen. He had even called to check and see if it showed up since it was stolen in Garland and they denied it was there. He found out it had came there just 3 days after it was stolen. When he finally did get to look at it, he found his damn wallet with his license in it laying in plain sight in the front floor.

impounds suck up clean bikes. with the quickness. they know what they have.

a lot in plano was all pissed when the detective told them to release the hold my old 600 after it was released to me by the JP in mckinney. lesson learned on polishing and painting frames.

Sounds to me like the city of Ft.Worth is trying to make money by delaying notification so the storage fees will be rediculous. I would start asking questions...depending on how much you want it back decides how much noise you make.

That's a long standing issue with just about all impound lots so they can jack up fees.

Yep we notify the minute it is recovered. I have even had people come pic their cars up to save the tow fees. Unfortunately sometimes the phone call slips thru the cracks. I would call and see who was supposed to notify you, generally it will be on the follow up report but who knows. There is a good chance it sat at the pound until someone could properly identify it. I have seen some bikes that took a good while to ID. Go get the title then go up to the PD and ask some questions it never hurts. I know I would damn sure want to see if it was in good enough shape to pick up.

yeah, that's the main thing that pisses me off right now is wondering where the breakdown in communication was that caused no one to ever contact me when they picked it up wherever it was . I'll pay the towing, but I'm not paying $2300 in storage fees.
