Get you a decent condition used bass boat to learn the ropes. Good deals are out there to be found. I bought mine for ~$2500 back in 05 and everything worked great on it. Granted it was over ten years old, mechanically it was great. Caught more fish than I could ever remember in that thing and made memories that will last me the rest of my life.
My advice would be don't go out and take out a loan and by some $40k bass boat to impress. Get something like I mentioned above to learn boating without much of a downside. Go for it man, you will be glad you did.

Inboard boat.... Tube with long rope.... Swing tube way out, turn boat into tuber full tilt and head the other way. Only had one buddy crazy enough to try it and we were sucessful twice and decided that was enough.
I have however seen guys on a bayliner cuddy cabin on lake grapevine doing the same thing wakeboarding with a huge homemade pylon... Crazy

Make sure and drain the water out of the engine. I picked this old Baja up pretty cheap because the bonehead didnt winterize

Go with a 4 stroke if you can.
Better fuel economy and not as much maintenance is needed.
If you do decide to go 2 stroke never use a paper fuel filter it will absorb the oil and cause you to run lean.
