I have a friend like that. He was out of town with some family at a reunion, and opted about halfway back to unload his bike off the trailer rather than be in the truck with his dad and brother. He's a bit of a loner, and is a pretty cool dude, except somewhat antisocial.

I saw a story on the news a few years ago about a motorcyclist riding thru a storm who died when he was struck by lightning and then the reporter stated that it happens more often than people realize. Only under the most extreme cases will I ride in a storm or even in the vicinity of one if I suspect there may be lightning.
