One Person Dead After Fireworks Accident in Comanche
One person is dead after a fireworks accident in Comanche.

The accident happened on a field at about 8:15 a.m., Thursday, just west of the high school that is usually used for baseball and softball games.

NBC 5 spoke with the Secretary of Comanche High School, who didn't want to give her name, but said one person is confirmed dead and several others are being treated for burns. They have been transported to the hospital for treatment.

The explosion reportedly happened inside a trailer.

According to the Comanche Chamber of Commerce, all Fourth of July activities have been cancelled for Friday night after a fireworks accident. This was the 24th year the event was set to be held.

On its Facebook page, the Comanche Chamber of Commerce posted:

DUE TO TRAGIC CIRCUMSTANCES THE 4TH ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED FOR 2014.

The event draws about 15,000 people according to the chamber.
