Dude gets busted for 93 in a 55... Who cares, right? ....Ends up having to spend 3 days in jail for reckless driving. He was in a ZL1, btw, not some shitbox that would fall apart at those speeds.

It's about surroundings, road structure, speed zone studies, the ability to react...etc etc. speed differentials are what kill so having an asshole going 95 when others are going 55 is a massive safety concern. Even professional drivers have this concern on closed courses when running a multi class event.

Raising and lowering speed limits has no effect on the average speed, but you will always have the subset of people that go the speed limit no matter what, so raising the speed limit to a more reasonable number will reduce the speed differential.

Lol I've only seen like 10 cops since I moved here. And I'm very well versed at spotting UC cars. I'm willing to bet its much worse near DC than where we are.

Oh, I guess for someone that lives in that state and that's what the speed limits are set at (45 & 55 max limits) I guess that would make sense, but as that gut wrote in his article, when he decided to get down there wasn't another car (other than the trooper) in sight. Even the jailers were lol that he was in jail for speeding. Doesn't that just sound ridicules?
