I don't get what the big deal is. I don't smoke, but hang around a lot of people that do. One of them has a vaping device. I thought it was supposed to be a good thing, like less harmful for the person using it and thought it wouldn't effect people around. Can someone educate me in why they hate people that vape?

IMHO as a person who uses a vapor device - I enjoy that people are pissed off about it.

From a law point of view in private businesses - I think it is BS just like smoking and other laws that forces an owner to do something.

However, "vaping" has some benefits for prior smokers and is enjoyable. As mentioned though, hipsters picked up on it and are being inconsiderate with the activity. People speaking up should be how things are handled, not nanny governments making it illegal.

Of course, that assumes people are not so selfish as to ignore other people's request to tone it down. I'd get bitchy if in a restaurant and someone was pumping out vapor like a steam train. Just like even when I smoked I preferred non-smoking places to eat due to hating smoke while eating. I want it to be my choice and the owner's choice though, not a law.

In the work place, I clear it with everyone and do it. I'd be respectful of others if they did not want it, but it's typically not a problem since I'm not exhaling on them/near them and being excessive. These are all non-smokers. A little consideration/respect goes a long way.
