I'm still sore and limping, but it feels 100 times better today than it did yesterday. Thank goodness!

Good gawd it sounds terrible. Suddenly my sore knee doesn't seem like a big deal anymore.

Holy fucking shit is it painful. I've got it in the big knuckle at the inside base of my left big toe. Walking is extremely difficult, as I have to put all weight on the outside edge of my foot or my heel, and that's just making the rest of my foot and leg hurt. The pain is awful at all times and doesn't fade away, but then once every few minutes I'll get an even worse shooting pain that I can only describe as being stung by a big nasty hornet, and that will last 10 seconds or so. It's ungodly. They gave me Indomethacin and Prednisone. Just started on them. I hope they start working soon.

Red meat and liquor are two of my favorite things. Always have been, so I'm surprised it hasn't happened before. I've been doing low carb for the past several months, which has just meant even more meat than usual, so that may be part of it.

I would only wish this on a fucking terrorist.
Yes gout sucks. Wish we could give it to all of ISIS.

I take indo (75mg ) and it takes about 1.5 hours to kick in. I usually take them before bed, because they make me sluggish and dizzie.

Mine has gotten worse, I can't really drink beer at all anymore.

My doc prescribed me (1) cherry juice bottle (before) two beers..

Oh and for Liquor, this cherry juice mixes well with Vodka too. Its got lots of sugar in it, so you can't just live off them, but it helps for the drinkin'

I actually am having a spell myself, been limping all day.

    Gout sufferer

    Checking in.

Have been diagnosed with it for a couple of years now and I have to say, without any reasonable doubt, it's the absolute worse pain I've ever endured!

Just the weight of a bed sheet resting on your toe during a sever flare-up, can bring you to tears.

Dr Dave is right though, the shot is the only thing that will help - in the short term. My last flare up was last week. Got a shot in the joint and it helped but for only a day & half. Came back but just less severe.

Upping the Alopurinol form 100mg to 300mg to see if that helps.

    David

True that...a 300lb fattie would be taking in excess of an ounce of vitamin C a day!

I never have gotten shingles when I do I'm using the readers digest cure for it, 1000mg vitamin c for every 10 lbs of body weight once a day. anything herpes related, fever blisters, shingles ect. It makes go away till the next time since you can't eliminate the virus from your body. It only takes a couple of days, you get the runs, then you cut back on the pills.

I control my high bp with 2 pills and trying to keep my weight down. One at night and 1/2 of one 2x a day, morning and evening. That's not what the doctor ordered but I monitor it and it seems to work fine what with the varying target for B/P today.

As far as drinking water goes, a reverse osmosis water filter is affordable and works great. the Spigot is mounted on the sink and it removes most everything and leaves H2O. It's what I have.

    Getting olds a bitch.

Anything I can get OTC that will help this? Hydrocodone and cyclobenzaprine are having zero effect. This is absolutely miserable. Haven't even taken a shower in 3 days because I'm afraid I'll fall over in there. About 3 weeks ago I stopped drinking water so much and started drinking more coke, for whatever reason. I'm sure only having one kidney isn't helping. I also get a little more dehydrated in winter with the heater running. This sucks.
Probably gout or pseudogout. Take 800mg motrin 3 times a day for a week. If you can get someone to give you a shot of decadron 8mg it will knock it out.

I don't have gout, shingles, or diabetes but I do have a bunion (one of those things old people get) on my right foot.

my FIL was exactly the same way... no beer, but nothing but coffee, decaf coffee, or coke. He didn't have gout, but he looked like an old boot that had been left in a field.

I didn't find out that he wouldn't drink water because "they" were putting shit in it until after he died... I just knew he wouldn't drink water... when my wife told me that, I was like "uhh... what the fuck was he making his coffee with?"
