It also depends a lot on what type of hauling the O/O does. I used to see a number of them out at the Port of LA driving old ass, busted up cab-overs. Those were preferred down there because the yard could be quite tight. They weren't much more than yard goats, but those guys could buy a used truck for $15 - $20k, work 9-5, and could get by on $2k a week gross. Most of it will depend on equipment costs and mileage you are traveling.
