The camaro rarely gets driven anymore as I've been more into restoring imports. Neighbors have to deal with the dsm that is my current daily driver

The civic was my daily, sold her to buy the only dsm in the state of Texas that wasn't rotting or broken

So I'm down to 5 cars currently with the camaro fusion and trans am all in the garage

When I lived at my parents the limit was two. My wife has no such rule but I am only allowed to impulse buy early to mid 90's Hondas without her authorization

My neighborhood is typical besides a neighbor down the street having a 2010 mustang roush

Men all drive trucks primarily ford, women drive ford explorers. The alternative serious businessman drives a camry and his wife drives a sienna.

You are correct. The blue green chameleon car I owned twice, the second time it was a piece of shit with every typical fbody problem. I fixed everything and slapped a new trans in it and sold it.

Maroon one is the wifes, it is bone stock

Thank you. I've owned old blue for 8 years now and she is one of the main reasons I've never needed a new car. She was my project car but when I went off to college she was the best daily driver I could have ever imagined. She has gone 8+ years of racing, daily driving, burnouts, and daily driving. She's also the main reason I was able to afford the house, that and the fact that no new cars could keep up with her until the past few years, I've never had a car payment or money pit

Cash cars. I enjoy working on rolling projects and I spend way too much time on craigslist.

If I bought a new car I would also be getting a $400 a month bill for my own modifications.

I purposely live down the street from the Jacksons. It makes me feel better about my situation.

The thing about keeping up with the Joneses is that, as soon as you catch up to them, you meet their richer neighbors, the Robertsons.

Sometimes i really do "feel like i'm not keeping up with the Jones'es" when i see folks in my neighborhood driving around in brand new cars, kids driving in brand new mustangs, and i know the average household income of my city and it's head scratching. I have some debt from when i was unemployed, and all my money is seemingly tied up in this house, but still, i seem to be doing "okay" but sill severely stress out about money.

I have a few friends my age (early 30s) with equal or worse paying jobs, house payments, and driving new cars, diesel trucks, buying boats, having kids ($$$) and the only ones who i know who are as careful with their spending as I am are SlowLX and his wife.

The only thing i can think of is massive, massive debt, but of course when you talk to people (like here) everyone is a cash only multimillionaire perfect investment portfolio dave ramsey follower...
