Fuck that airline. I've flown them once. Never again. "First free bag" means you can bring a backpack or purse as carry on. Anything larger and you get charged for it:
"In economy, carry-on $55, 1st checked $50. Advance purchase discount available."
Factor in all the bag fees. Now how cheap was it?
Virgin is always right around the cheapest, and isn't a fee gouging POS airline like Spirit. The planes are modern Airbus, the seats are great, you get your own TV, and service is awesome.
It's $129 one-way right now.

The worst part is all the window lickers flipping out and causing a scene over the "extra" charges.
I flew using it and while I would never say it was great for a quick flight I saved $200. I had no problem and will use them again.

I'm platinum with AA but took Spirit to Orlando this summer as I had to pay for 4 tickets (wife and kids) all one way. I couldn't get crap with miles from AA and they were ridiculous with prices. It is what it is which is what Brent says - a budget airline. If you accept that going in, you'll be fine. My flight was not delayed for the record, and everything was normal with it. We checked 2 bags (for a fee) and got them about the same amount of time bags normally come out in Orlando. Considering I flew all 4 of us for under $800 when AA wanted north of $1500, I'd do it again and put the money in my pocket.

If yes to any of the above, Spirit may not be for you.

But for personal travel to places like New Orleans, OKC, Houston, etc; I'm perfectly ok with sitting on a cramped plane like Spirit for an hour or so. You're not really on it long enough for anything to get that annoying.

Going early may help...but mid week just means more cheap asses that got great hotel sales. I actually hate flying to any major vacation destination because the travelers arent like business travelers.Originally posted by JC316 View PostBiggest in our group is 6'1, smallest is 5'1. I daily a C4 corvette, so I am used to being cramped. I am more concerned about back support in the seats, not for me, but one of my group has back trouble with really shitty seats.
I am going in the middle of the week at balls o clock in the morning, so hoping that it wont be too full.

I only complain because my company booked me with spirit to ORD. I'll personally never use them again. Not because of their service, but because I don't fit in their planes.Originally posted by bcoop View PostI haven't? There are only a handful of people on here that fly more than I do. People have unrealistic expectations from a discount airline, and that's a fact.
99.9% of my travel is with AA & SWA, but as I said, Spirit has their place. They're great for short trips when you're able to travel light.

This is exactly correct.Originally posted by bcoop View PostPeople who complain about Spirit crack me the fuck up. You're too goddamned cheap to pay for a ticket with AA, but expect the same amenities? Get real.
You can usually tell who is being unreasonable just by reading the reviews. I immediately dismiss anything with misspelled words and piss poor grammar.
I've flown with them before, and will again. They have their place. I would spend more for a non discount airliner on flights over 2 hours. JMO. I've also never been delayed or had a flight cancel on Spirit.
People bitch and moan about them but they're the ones who don't want to spend extra coin to be on a "nice" airline. I flew with them a couple weeks ago, 3rd or 4th time, you get what you pay for. I never pay anything extra and I never do the add on. I've never had a problem taking my carry on bag, usually a back pack, and the last flight a couple weeks ago I took a back pack and had a suit bag with 3 suits and did not have to pay extra for anything (suits even went in overhead bin). The seating is terrible as everyone has stated. I'm 5'10'' and fit fine, anything larger, you will definitely be uncomfortable for a little bit.
