Ya know, to those say "Do you have experience at a LEO" or similar, that's bullshit. I used to feel the same way about military life and upon reflection, one does not necessarily have to have experience in a field to have an opinion.

Granted, experience does provide more insight to a job/position. However, folks opinions do matter whether they have experience or not. Trying to shut those folks down with "You have no experience, shut up" type rebuttal is not going to create any progress. Trying to educate them and make them understand where you're coming from is a good thing. (Which a couple LEOs do here)

Now...folks without experience with a particular thing calling out others without experience is even more entertaining.

I sure hope not a rifle and missed, but on the other hand 54 yards with a pistol is a hell of a shot. Sounds like he anticipated the recoil a little! I really would like to see the whole video and here the dispatch on it.

From that first video, from what I can see and here, I would have just walked up to the guy and grabbed him, or visited with him for a bit, while I had one guy with lethal, and one guy with less lethal cover on me. I am curious what made them pull the trigger.

One of the most intense stand offs I have been in we did this. Well we were all lethal but one guy eventually. We got a call of a suicidal subject in his back drive with a short barrel shotty. As I was coming up to the garage from the front of the house he pulled off a round. I was like, here we go. We pied the corner and there he was in a lawn chair, with a shotty facing his chest. Eventually after he wouldn't talk to our negotiator anymore we walked up on him. Two lethals, weapons down, and one guy talking with not a damn thing in his hand. The guy talking was a Marine and reckonized all the shit on his garage wall(Military awards). After a lot of talking and that guy taking several deep breaths, closing his eyes, and clinching, he decided the best way to give up was to raise the shotty up sideways and throw it in the trunk. Holy shit that was close to going either way. Four times we thought he was going to pull the trigger and the last time he didn't exactly announce his intentions. Would have been a good shoot, but I am glad the barrel went the other way and my partner also realized it did not come around towards us. Split seconds to make life a death decisions fellas.

Evidently the guy was SWAT, hiding behind a car door, at 50 meters (all according to the story) and squeezed off 3 rounds at the guy with the truck, missed 2 shots and the third popped the guy laying down. So SWAT, the guys who are the cream of the crop for cops, missed 3 rounds at the gimme target from a safe position and hit the victim.

He needs to go to jail.

Crap like that is why I shake my head when I have to hear how stellar LEO training is and why civilians don't need to be armed.

The victim said the cop walked up, shot him, and then claimed he didn't know why he shot him.

The North Miami police officer who shot an unarmed, black mental health worker caring for a patient actually took aim at the autistic man next to him, but missed, the head of the police union said Thursday.

It was a stunning admission from the police officer and from John Rivera, who heads up Miami-Dade’s Police Benevolent Association. But it was one meant to calm the fears of a nation besieged with cellphone videos of police shooting and sometimes killing unarmed black men.

In this case, Rivera said, the officer wound up wounding the man he was trying to save.
