Use the fireplace and fans more and the ac/heat less. I think it just the way my place is setup, dumb mistake on thermostat placement. I did have the doors and windiow re-weather stripped though, that helped with the drafts.

Mine was 175 last month @ 750sqft and 72 degrees.
The winter months are usually at least double what I pay in the summer. I've had < $50 a time or two

Our last apt was a 698 sq feet house and we would get raped on our electric bill.
We'd blast the AC at 64 degres and it felt like 7x degrees in the apt and always had to keep our AC on constantly during the summer time. Insulation has a big deal to do with it. Our bill would be in the mid $3xx from June-September.
We now own a house thats 2100 sq feet and our highest bill was $273 and usually ranged from the Low $200s from June-September.

My bill last month was the highest it has been in the year I have lived in my house. 1700 sq ft and it was $190. The summer time at 75 degrees all day and a bit lower at night usually yielded a $120 electricity bill. I was pissed to see $190 though. I don't know my rate as it is not fixed and I am through a co-op.

Depends on the apartment. I have lived in nice apartments that were built like shit as far as energy efficiency goes with small low seer units running constantly in the winter and summer.

On what temperature is the heat set? With all the cold weather mine ended up being more expensive the last two months than it was all summer (electric heat).
