The entire setuip is looking very good and your attention to details on things speaks for itself.

Nope. The only thing I can recall saying (it's in this post somewhere).. was that I may minitub it next season. The back bars are the wrong ones (they're for a minitubbed car) which worked out good - now I won't have to change them. Besides, i can go 4's with this setup and 28 X 10's.Originally posted by sosoe View PostWhile I looked at this pics for a quick second, I thought you were gonna mini tub it..
It's one of those things that adds a bunch of time to the project and isn't totally needed. (for me)Originally posted by bigshoe View PostBrooks said he don't need no fucking mini tubs!!

Finally, got through with some other projects and had some time to work on mine. This is only from the past day's work, I surely hope to have a lot more to report done in the next few days.
First - Fab tip of the day. This nut is welded in place to facilitate the cutting of the notch for this tube to fit over. In this case, a 5/16" nut is tacked in place to hold the pilot drill for the 1 5/8" hole saw. This time a nut was used because of the height of the centerline in relation to the top of the tube. If the centerline were further from the surface, I'd just use a small scrap of steel and drill a hole through it.

This is the finished product.

..and the finish product installed, viewed from the bottome, sheet metal installed. This is only the fuel cell mount. There will be additional bracing added for the battery (drivers side) and fuel pump(passengers side).

In order to keep the project moving, while the paint was drying I started trimming the passenger side inner apron in the engine bay. This will make more sense later.

One other thing, as mentioned above - I'll likely shorten the links, as I've done many times in the past.
My only regret is installing the tabs while the car is on stands. No biggie.

This makes me feel better about being a lazy ass and not removing it the past 2 weeks. The car actually seems to handle a lot better, it used to roll hard in corners and now it doesn't and low speed corning seems vastly better. Could be in my head, but I don't thing so.Originally posted by turbostang View PostI never had any kind of problem with breakage on my old car, and never unhooked it for street driving.
If it broke the arms off, there's a lot more broken shit and those arms would be the least of your concerns.
Okay, now back to your bad ass ride/work, I'll stop polluting it with my b.s.!

Originally posted by dville_gt View Posti don't ever plan to take it out, you know this car is doomed to a life of drag racing, but team z says it is fine to weld just the rear edge and the bottom in case something on the bar breaks. thats the only reason i would ever remove mine is if one of the arms broke off or something. i do see what you mean about it moving, just didn't know what the norm was here.

Mine bieng for lack of quality - I got a good deal on the UPR setup, but wasn't necessarily my first choice.
If it were a double sway bar from Wolfe, it would absolutely be welded 100%.[/QUOTE]
Which is why I have the Wolfe setup, got a sweet ass deal on it!

(although in retrospect i think "outside edges" was misunderstood, i welded just the "outside edges" that are easy to cut off) (i.e. the bottom and rear "outside edges")
