We stayed in Breckinfridge last year and it was pretty fun. We usually go to New Mexico but decided to change it up.

Sadly I have only ever gone snow skiiing in California (Big Bear area) and it's been a solid 20 years.. That was often man-made too, only saw powder once or twice out of the 6 or 7 times I went. On the plus side, the last time I went it was like 70 and I wore shorts and a t shirt.

We have a condo in Angel Fire, but for the skiing, I prefer to drive over to Red River. Cool little town and decent skiing.

Copper mountain or Vail are nice its been too long and I drank too much to remember too much about the places. If you are bringing the women folk they may like Vail better since it has more shopping.

Angel Fire/Taos are nice but the skiing was better in Colorado or at least I thought.

Whistler, B.C. You won't regret it. Stay at the Fairmont. You're welcome.

There are several Ski areas close to South Lake Tahoe, and great house rentals on the lake. Heavenly has a gondola on the lake side of the mountain, which makes for a quite scenic trip up to the top.

It's only a 2 hour drive for me though, so I'm a bit partial. I grew up skiing Red River, Angel Fire, and Taos, with Angel Fire being the most family friendly. That place has come a long way in the last decade. Purgatory near Durango CO is another favorite, but a bit of a haul if you're driving.

I prefer Angel Fire over Red River, as it's a much bigger ski area, but my grandparents had a condo in RR, so that was where we stayed. Both are within driving distance of each other, if you're willing to get up early enough, and want to change it up.

Agree on red river, we take a family trip twice a year to RR for the last 6 years. Once in the summer to hit trails on utv/atv, and once in the winter to snowboard the slopes... I absolutely love it because its small and not overly complicated like wolf creek or winter park in CO.

Seriously. Can't argue with this. Largest ski resort in north America (I did not know that previously). The two mountains are huge, though. And the lift is right beyond the patio deck at the Fairmont. See the ski map below, Dave.
