  • I just quit my job!

For the past year after our company got bought out, I’ve been dealing with a new boss who works in another state and doesn’t know how to communicate (sends me projects, I can’t reach her for instruction so I move forward with the steps I think I should take, I submit the project and then she tells me it’s wrong). I finally got her on the phone last month to review a manual, and at the end of the conversation I said, “You know, I’ve been working with you for about a year now...am I meeting your expectations for this position?” In so many words, she basically said “Um...nah.”

So that was the last straw for me. I notified my network, sent out a bunch of resumes and found a new job within a couple of weeks. Then today I called my boss to give my notice...and after 5 hours with no return call (a colleague confirmed that she is in her office today), I sent my notice by email.

I just wanted to say – this is for all of you that are feeling stuck in jobs you don’t like or with bosses who don’t respect you or with pay that is less than what you deserve. This is for all of you who lost your jobs and have not yet found new or suitable ones. Don’t give up. Don’t let the people on the news tell you that the economy is so bad that you shouldn’t even try. It IS possible to get out of your situation if you set your mind to it. If I can do it, you can do it too. I wish you the best of luck!

Anyone that can't find a job these days, isn't hungry enough.

Good for you. At least you didn't stay in a position you knew had the potential of getting axed. Some people know its coming and do nothing about it.

          Congrats?

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like your new boss shouldn't be in the position she is in. Keep your head up man. I for one would have put up with things the way they were while I was getting a paycheck until I found something else - but to each is own. Good luck with your search!

I have applied to a little over 2000 jobs since August. (Yes i have been counting.) I have had THREE interviews now, and they were all with temp agencies. I did the testing, which i did good on. They can't even get me a job. The only way to get a job right now is to know someone. I'm a loser and don't have any friends LOL. I could get a job making half of what I'm making but i rather take my severence and get unemployment which will pay me the same. It's crazy what they want to pay people.

EDIT:Congrats on being able to quit! I wish i could do the same.

They always say that it is easier to get/find a job when you already have a job. I've experienced it first hand.

You're either applying for jobs that you are either over/underqualified for, or asking for too much $.
