  • Anyone gone direct to the kiosks at DFW to buy flights?

I have heard there is a big savings of just going to your selected airline and buying tickets in person. That you save a lot on processing fees from doing it online. Is this true? I'll be flying Delta.

My flights would not be until late July.

Usually, the further in advance you buy your ticket, the more you save.
Natural law. Sons are put on this earth to trouble their fathers.

It is the same either way. Then you add in cost for your time to the airport, tolls or parking and fuel on top of the ticket expense.

Usually best rates are 60-90 days out within that window.

Travel websites are not worth it either, not to mention they are all (most) owned by Expedia anyways.

I just booked a flight for $2200 with only included expense of $250 in taxes. This was via Amex Travel and my card services which was 15% below the advertised AA rate. They have a discount right when booking through Platinum or Centurion travel

I've done that with Spirit and saved a ton. Like $2xx for four round trip tickets DFW to MCO with bags out the door.

I'll never recommend Spirit or fly with them again. The nickel and diming made it more expensive overall than Alaska, at the time I purchased the ticket(s).

I actually had really great luck with them, but didn't check a bag. Paid for carry on.

Spirit isn't bad for what it is. The seats are terribly unconfomfortable for taller folks.

I buy all my flights online direct thru the airline's website or sometimes the phone app. Many on short notice. Mostly American with some Southwest. I've never noticed extra fee's. I'll start paying more attention.

And, I don't plan to ever fly Spirit again. I survived the experience a few times.

I got lucky in life in a few ways I guess. I'm short enough to never complain about a airplane seat, but I can't reach the top shelf in the cabinets without a step. Oh well, all my tall friends have knee problems already

No knee problems yet, but my feet didn't touch the ground the whole flight because my knees were buried in the seat in front of me.

Are you locked into Delta for some reason? Where are you flying? Usually AA is a better choice from DFW. Others have connections typically. My time is worth not having to spend 3 hours at some airport waiting on a connection.

Got an Amex card with crazy bonus miles and offers. Seemed too good to pass up. I am new to racking miles like some ballers on here.

Man, I don't know about any other airline since I always just fly Southwest airlines if at all possible. Adam is correct, the further out you reserve a flight, the cheaper more available they are and directly from the airline you are reserving. I've never seen any fees other than like the gov. fees and taxes. with SWA. They offer non-stop flights to most major cities they fly to and are no nonsense flying. They are not the most comfortable, but I'm on and off a plane in 2-3 hours, they fly out of Love Field and the parking is rather affordable if I can't get a ride to and from. We don't ever pay for bags and we pack efficiently and can get on with 3 bags and a carry-on or two.
I don't fly international and imo if SWA doesn't go there, I don't need to go there.
I haven't flown on AA's planes in almost 20 years, fuck them and their shitty employee attitudes, expensive flights and always running late bullshit. Every airline has them but I've experienced very little waiting on the plane to take off unless it is weather related.

I'm also a big WN fan. The Business select option is almost always worth it. 2 free alcoholic drinks ( per flight ) and you're the first boarding group. I always grab the first row isle seat on the right side. Then just look angry at everyone that boards after you.
